Content calendar

A content calendar is a plan of what you will post, where and when, laid out by date so posting becomes routine instead of a daily scramble.

Also called: posting schedule, content plan, social media calendar

What goes on a content calendar?

The date, the platform, the format (reel, carousel, story, email), a working idea or caption, and the goal of the post, such as a pre-save, a sale or just staying visible.

How far ahead should you plan?

Far enough that big moments aren't a surprise: a release, a gig, a launch or a festival. Many creators plan the key dates a month or two out and fill in the everyday posts week by week.

Does it make content feel stiff?

Only if you never change it. Leave gaps for trends and for things that happen on the day. The calendar is there so the important posts don't get forgotten.

Example

A Tamil rapper plans six weeks around a single: two BTS posts a week, an announcement reel, three snippet reels, release-day stories and a live session the week after.
