Rollout
A rollout is the whole plan around a release, from the first tease to the follow-up weeks after it comes out.
Also called: release rollout, album rollout, release campaign
What goes into a rollout?
Usually: a tease, an announcement with the date, a pre-save, snippets, release day itself, and a week or two of follow-ups like a video, a live session or a remix.
How long should a rollout be?
For a single, two to six weeks is common. Albums run longer, often with several singles before release.
What do people get wrong?
Spending everything on release day and going quiet after. Most listeners find a song in the weeks after release, through the things you keep posting.
Example
A four-week single rollout: tease in week 1, announcement and pre-save in week 2, snippets in week 3, release and video in week 4.
