Where a music QR code is useful
A QR code gets someone from the real world to your music in one scan. It works where typing a link would not: a gig poster, a record sleeve, a t-shirt, a table at a merch stand, the end of a video, the corner of a slide.
- Posters and flyers. Put the code next to the release date so people can pre-save or listen on the spot.
- Merch and packaging. Add one to a vinyl or CD sleeve, a sticker or a hang tag.
- Stage and screens. Show it between songs, or on the screen behind you.
- Press and business cards. Make it easy for someone to hear the song when they get your card.
How to make a QR code for a song
- Copy the link to your song, album or smart link.
- Paste it into the box at the top of this page.
- Pick the dot style and the corner style, then set your colours.
- Add a centre image if you want one.
- Download the PNG or SVG, and test it with your phone.
Making it look good and still scan
Contrast comes first
The code needs to be clearly darker than its background. Dark on light is the safest choice and works in every reader. A gradient is fine as long as both ends stay dark. Light-on-dark codes and pale colours are where scanning problems start.
Keep a border
The empty space around a code, called the quiet zone, helps a phone find where it begins. Leave at least four squares of it, and don't place text or pictures too close.
Keep the centre image small
A QR code carries extra data, so it can still be read with part of it hidden. A centre image uses that spare capacity. Around 20 percent of the code's width is a good size. Much larger and you are relying on the phone to cope.
Keep the link short
The longer the link, the more squares the code needs, and the smaller each one gets. A short link makes a calmer, easier code. If your link is long, use a short link or a smart link instead.

| Posters, flyers, vinyl, merch, signs | SVG |
Static codes and tracking
A code made here holds your link exactly as you typed it. It can't be changed later and it doesn't count scans. If you want to see how many people scanned, point the code at a smart link, which shows you each visit by source and country. Plan the rest of the release with the free music release planner.
FAQ
Common questions
How do I make a QR code for a Spotify song or album?
Open the song or album in Spotify, copy its link, and paste it into the box above. The code updates as you type. Choose a style, then download it as a PNG or SVG. The same steps work for Apple Music, YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp or any web link.
Should I link to Spotify, or to a smart link?
A smart link is the better choice for a code that will be printed. Listeners use different apps, and a smart link lets each person open the release in the one they use. A code that points straight to Spotify sends everyone there, including people who don't have it.
Can I put my logo or a photo in the middle?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, and the generator clears a space for it. Keep it small, around a fifth of the code's width. The code has error correction built in, which is what lets it still scan with part of it covered. The image stays in your browser. It is never uploaded.
Will my styled QR code still scan?
Usually, if you keep two things: strong contrast between the code and the background, and a clear border around it. The generator warns you when the colours are too close or the logo is too big. Still, always test the finished code on a couple of phones before you print it.
Should I download a PNG or an SVG?
Use PNG for social posts, slides and anything on a screen. Use SVG for print: posters, flyers, vinyl sleeves and merch. An SVG can be scaled to any size without turning blurry.
Does the QR code expire, and do I have to pay?
No to both. The code holds the link itself, so it works for as long as that link works. There's no account, no watermark and no limit. Nothing you type or upload is sent to our servers.
