D2C

D2C (direct to consumer) is a brand that sells straight to customers, usually through its own website and social media, instead of through shops or marketplaces.

Also called: DTC, direct to consumer, direct-to-consumer brand

Why does D2C rely on Instagram?

Instagram is often where D2C brands are discovered, and DMs are where many sales conversations happen: price, size, delivery.

What do D2C brands need most?

A steady flow of people from content to product page, and a way to reach them again: email, WhatsApp, or a follow.

What makes D2C different from a marketplace?

The brand owns the customer relationship and data, instead of a marketplace standing in between.

Example

An Indian snack brand sells only through its site, getting most orders from reels with "comment PRICE" and a DM link.
