What can you do in Spotify for Artists?

Edit your profile and artist pick, pitch an unreleased song to Spotify's editors, add a Canvas video to tracks, and see streams, listeners, saves and where they come from.

How do you get access?

Claim your artist profile at artists.spotify.com. Many distributors also give instant access once your first release is live.

What's the first thing to do?

Pitch your next release, well before its date. It's the one thing you can only do before release.

An artist claims their profile, adds a photo and bio, and pitches their next single three weeks before it comes out.

  • Playlist pitching

    Playlist pitching is sending an unreleased song to playlist editors or curators, with a short description, so they can consider it for a playlist.

  • Editorial playlist

    An editorial playlist is a playlist picked by a streaming service's own team of editors, as opposed to one generated by its algorithm or made by users.

  • Monthly listeners

    Monthly listeners is the number of different people who played an artist's music on Spotify in the last 28 days.

  • 30-second rule

    On Spotify, a play counts as a stream once someone has listened to a track for 30 seconds or more.

  • Algorithmic playlist

    An algorithmic playlist is made automatically for each listener from what they play, like Spotify's Release Radar and Discover Weekly.

  • DSP

    DSP (digital service provider) is the industry's name for streaming services and digital stores, like Spotify, JioSaavn, Apple Music and YouTube Music.
